Bedbugs are small, oval insects that feed by sucking blood from humans or animals. Bedbugs do not fly.
Bedbugs can live any place in the house. They can live in cracks in furniture or in any type of textile, including upholstered furniture. They're most common in beds, such as the mattress, box springs, and bed frames. How do you get bed bugs? It’s a myth that dirty conditions cause bed bugs. • Bed bugs increasingly resistant to modern chemical treatments.
• Higher numbers of people traveling internationally.

1. Bed bugs already existed there but weren’t previously detected or, if detected, were not eradicated completely.

When the person never detected them and then moved out, you could be moving right into a horror story. Bed bugs can survive for over 12 months without feeding. Therefore if these were exterminated but the treatment wasn’t thoroughly sufficient (and lots of do-it-yourself remedies are not), bed bugs will come back.
2. Bed bugs arrived through adjacent units inside a multi-unit dwelling (condos, apartments, dorms, hotels, hostels).
The present bed bug resurgence is particularly an issue in multi-unit dwellings. If you reside in a multi-unit dwelling, you could do everything right to protect yourself and still end up getting bed bugs.
